A London-based startup called Logically.ai recently used their tech to detect "fake news" on a QAnon site and track down the publisher. They are also working on detecting fakes surrounding the Russia/Ukraine war. A similar startup in the UK called Fabula AI was acquired by Twitter a while back but has gone quiet since, probably not going to be helped much by Musk's takeover. Hopefully this is of interest!
Alternatively, a digital certificate that someone in a photo or video can attach to the photo/video to prove it is authentic, to prove that they are legitimately depicted in the photo//video. Photos/videos without this digital cert should not be trusted. Maybe this exists in the meta data of the file or is managed via blockchain somehow.
