Mark Twain famously said, "Golf is a good walk spoiled."
Regrettably, Golf today is frequently a slothful crawl. Although Private Golf Courses seemingly have the best solution at hand (the ability to enforce pace of play), the odds of being stuck behind a group match with "no gimmes" are only increasing.
For the proletariat who play at Public Golf Courses, the situation is worse. As a public park requiring equal access, 18-hole rounds of 6 hours and 9-hole rounds of 3+ hours are tolerated as "yeah Rancho Park is such a great golf course."
Hypothesis: Testing and iterating from one to a handful of Public Golf Courses would be much easier to scale than on Private Golf Courses.
Golf is booming. Pace is slowing. Society is watching. Saudi Arabia is lurking.
Public Golf Courses need to be more accessible and ecologically sustainable to survive.
Public Course Tee Times are now available online with robust inventory and revenue management features.
Inventory Management opens up the ability to segment tee times into groups other than "first come first serve" or "men's club" without having to fully go to "3 HOURS TOURNAMENT TEE TIME BLOCK".
