More community-business partnerships could help, especially in acting as central drop-off points. Mom’s Organic Market locations in the DC Metro area have nifty stations for recycling all kinds of things that are not curbside recyclable (including batteries). But imagine the added scale if a giant grocery chain or CVS offered this.
I still feel like the consumer collection end of battery recycling is an untapped opportunity here. Most battery recycling is either by extracting batteries out of the trash at landfills or at the commercial end. If you could build a process for consumers to give them to you in a pre-determined way that would eliminate labor at the recycling plant there could be massive cost savings.
agreed here. almost need something like https://givebackbox.com/works for batteries and old electronics. Id love to take an amazon box , throw some batteries in it, print a prepaid shipping label and drop it off. Right now I go to Paganos Hardware and drop off batteries once i have a zip lock full of them.

Although I can be founder of the solution proposed, I'd be delighted to support someone else in this path if they are a better fit.

Love this - interesting that they are taking an enterprise sales approach vs. direct to consumer collection.
