• offer lo-fi customer experience,
• DIY software tools,
• no marketing automation for consistent lead generation,
• CRM/e-commerce/workflow tools are fragmented,
• paper-based invoicing system or use multiple payment vendors,

coffee shop owners:

• shop owners keep their preferred vendor list handwritten in notebooks or stickies on fridges,
• machines are expensive to service and must pay an hourly rate + dispatch charges.
• not really loyal to 1 technician(s) who compete solely on price.

economics:

with inflation costs rising, the cost to service equipment is increasing and shop owners will not be quick to replace; resulting in the need for consistent servicing option

technological:

improved automatons in marketing, and decrease computing costs to put together a unified platform for increased operational efficiency. also the rise of robotic coffee bars like CafeX.

labor/workforce

10,000 certified espresso technicians globally, demand for specialty coffees is outpacing the supply of technicians; as espresso machines become more automated more baristas will look to reskill and become certified technicians

legislation:

The Coffee Protection, Health Improvement, and Innovation Act (CPHIAA) was passed in 2022. This could increase the cost for coffee shops to invest in new equipment to comply with new regulations.
