Today, many people are encouraged to go to college. Yet, many regret the choice because of the debt it creates, and the lack of relevancy on the career they end up in.

For many people, an "apprenticeship" may be a better solution. Apprenticeships provide on-the-job training and a level of income from the outset. However, they have gone out of vogue for various reasons over the past few decades.

This is research and market-mapping project.

- what startups already exist to support modern apprenticeships? This could be companies that provide online courses, training, certifications, matching of people to apprenticeships, etc.
- how much traction do these startups have? Money raised? From whom? Number of employees? (Basic stats from Crunchbase and LinkedIn)
- can you create a 2x2 Gartner matrix to layout these companies to understand the landscape?
- what kinds of jobs are well suited to a modern apprenticeship? Perhaps there is a new wave of green jobs - e.g. solar installation - that could use such an approach?
