About GigEasy
The "gig economy" is rapidly becoming simply "the economy". Today, 1 in 3 Americans now works in the gig economy. Unfortunately, Gig workers cannot get much-needed benefits that are often offered to W-2 workers.
GigEasy is building a benefits company from the ground up for the gig economy. Our first product is RentProtect by GigEasy, which covers your rent for up to six months in the event of sickness or injury.
GigEasy is a Platform Venture Studio company. Platform was founded by 10x serial entrepreneur, Jeremy Burton (Wonolo, Fundly, Symbian) and seasoned venture investor, Tim Connors (founder/partner of PivotNorth, and former partner at Sequoia and USVP).
The Role
GigEasy is hiring a Founding Engineer with the ability to create custom API calls and map out our early architecture.
As the first engineering hire, you are a core component of bringing GigEasy to our users. You will help architect the early-stage infrastructure, lead the buildout and execute the launch of products and features that are foundational for GigEasy, while assisting with the early-stage architecture for our product. You will report directly to the CEO Rilwan Lawal and have the autonomy to drive engineering and product decisions.
Examples of projects that you may work on
● Set up custom API Integrations with Insurance Partners. ● Help build out our Instant Quote calculator.
● Build out internal tools and workflows for sales agents. ● Set up virtual debit cards within our platform.
● Design V2 of systems architecture. Responsibilities
● Design, test, ship, and maintain solutions and products.
● Take complete ownership over projects and features.
● Prepare detailed API design documents and specifications.
● Establish and document API implementation/management standards and best
practices.
● Design, build and implement secure integration APIs to interface with diverse systems.
● Work across a range of low code platforms and third-party APIs to deliver end-to-end
solutions.
● Partner with cross-functional teams (Design, Operations, Sales, etc.) to ensure a complete and delightful customer experience.
● Lead the buildout of internal tools to scale operations.
● Help set and improve our engineering processes, standards, and tooling.
What We Are Looking For
● 3+ years of experience in software development and Systems Architecture, using Javascript.
● Experience building with API systems and technologies, REST, JSON, OAuth, JWT, and Webhooks.
● Experience designing and developing business flows and automation.
● Strong communication and collaboration skills. As a small team, we work closely with
each other across the company.

● Insurtech experience.
● Experience taking a product from version 0-1
● Startup experience
● Understanding of payment systems and virtual debit card integrations
● Experience with Webflow, Bubble, Airtable, Zapier, Memberstack etc.
