Norman Winarsky

Norman Winarsky is Advisor to Startups, Author, and Angel Investor. He is past President of SRI Ventures, which he founded, and which has launched more than 70 companies with a total market value of over $100B.

Norman was co-founder and board member of Siri, which was a startup spun out from SRI in January 2008. Siri has now been incorporated into all Apple iPhones, computers, HomePods, and more.

He is co-author of "If You Really Want to Change the World: A Guide to Creating, Building, and Sustaining Breakthrough Ventures,"​ published by Harvard Press.

Norman is a Lecturer in Management at Stanford Graduate School of Business, with a special focus on teaching how to create breakthrough ventures.

He was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford, Chairman of the University of Chicago Visiting Committee for the Physical Sciences, and a member of the National Academy Committee on Forecasting Future Disruptive Technologies. He was also a National Science Foundation Fellow, and an invited member of the mathematics department of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey.

In 2000, Norman and his team received an Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in technological advancement related to HDTV. In addition, he has received RCA's highest honor, the Sarnoff Award.

Norman graduated with a B.A., M.S., and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Chicago, and was awarded Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. In addition he was awarded the Paul J. Cohen award for the outstanding student in Mathematics.
