Dr. Sean Robinson is a scientist and entrepreneur leading machine learning, social media analysis, artificial intelligence, and data science teams for a premier startup studio in Seattle. Sean has led a variety of simulation, modeling and analysis projects pertinent to detection algorithm development, search for items of interest, the protection of U.S. borders, and the development of signatures of anomalies and rare events. He earned his Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Washington, developing source characterization algorithms for a NASA/DOE Gamma Ray Telescope.

Sean Robinson sits on advisory boards for Bellevue College and Western Washington University and often speaks at conventions and events about the nature of science and technology in pop culture and the future of the modern world.

Previously he was a research scientist working in the area of radiation detection and national security. He was heavily involved in numerical simulation, modeling, Monte-Carlo particle transport, machine learning and anomaly detection, as well as in the direction of international nuclear policy. Sean has served as project manager and science lead for numerous research efforts and was involved in projects to develop algorithms to compare active and passive radiation images for object identification, optimize the capability of distributed and airborne detectors to spatially localize sources, and to model and evaluate the performance of hypothetical detector systems.

Sean has been instrumental in the production of more than 50 internal and external papers and holds several technical patents.
