Along the supply chain from farm to household, 120 billion lbs of food are wasted year in the US alone. That equates to $408 billion dollars worth of economic loss and 6% of GHG emissions. Meanwhile, 10% of Americans are food insecure.
According to Project Drawdown (https://drawdown.org/solutions/table-of-solutions), reducing food waste is the most impactful way to immediately reduce emissions.
