Organized ticketing in South Asia remains elusive and is waiting for enablement.

Suggested by Shifat Rahman about 3 years ago

Hi all,

Just thought Ill share my thoughts with folks like you who could do with a bit of news from

South Asia, particularly Bangladesh, As a Bangladeshi who launched his tech career at Groupon around 2009, I remember being amazed as late as last night that we are yet to implement basic 1.0 internet models across the country.

Last year, I had to sell my car off so I could offer a bit of angel investment into a local company and started riding the bus to work.

As someone who would rather ride the bus to commute than to drive in hectic Dhaka traffic, I found that:

  • Less than 2% of Ticketing is done online.
  • There is a lack of transparency at user end. Friction exist between bus conducters and passengers on exact fares, timing, seating etc.
  • Local Bus Operators are conventional and have not adopted technology.
  • Appart frokm the Buses, Event/Sports organizers are also unable to attract mass.
  • Friction exist between all parties!

= Buying Experience is terrible!

Through exclusive partnerships with hundreds of Bus Operators, Event Organizers, Venues, Artists, Sports leagues, and arts and theater tours, we can enable unparalleled access to the most robust Ticket Supply to 170million Bangladeshis.

alarm Why Now?

Now is the best time, given we have learnt a lot in the last 12 months, having tried the model earlier 11 years ago only to go nowhere.

The median age of the country currently sits at 27.5 years, meaning most of the Gen Z and Y have socially adopted technology, and are just beginning to step into their 30s with purchase power.

This sets us up for success for the next 10 years if we are able to provide:

  • Ticketing solution that eases pain/friction.
  • Seamless payment wallet. This wallet app could also be a great starting point for the authenticated buying of tickets, reconciliation of operators/organizers/stakeholders to control and improve industry standards. We do project daily 8000 ticket sales, thus planning out the wallet will be the key to win the market.

Happy to share thoughts/comments/feedback/questions :-)
