Consensus Collapse refers to the uncertainty, toxicity, confusion and division in human to human conversation and all of the misinformation and unintended consequences that follow. This not only effects obvious social media platforms like Facebook or X, it effects governance, community and commerce.
The web has simply created too much information complexity which is exasperating the human tendency towards tribalism and groupthink, creating feedback loops on the web that spread misinformation and disinformation at scale, making problem solving through this complexity even more challenging.

Incredible amount of complexity. Attempting to root cause these issues can turn into ideological hot button topics quickly. My 2 cents is to focus on transparency. mis/dis/whatever-you-call-it information flourishes in the dark. Shine a light on the information. Build trust in sources and information through radical transparency. Potential "chain of custody" of factual information verified by something like an immutable blockchain could potentially be a part of the solution.
