@ Connectiv Solutions, LLC

I agree with all comments thus far.

1) anti-innovation/anti-affordability impact of entrenched builder/building material interests

2) anti-innovation/anti-affordability impact of entrenched laws, regulations, rules particularly with regard to zoning & permitting at the local level.

Also, I've long been interested in alternative and more sustainable/resilient building materials/technologies/approaches, especially to help address the affordable housing crisis which is "deja vu" all over again. In addition to cost redox / quality improvement on the structures side there needs to be cost redox on the land side (public-private-nonprofit partnerships? community land trusts? etc.) not to mention complexity redox (which = cost/time redox) on the zoning/permitting side. Jiwon's platform concept for integrating, streamlining/simplifying and accelerating the housing development value chain sounds promising. Moreover, there may now (& over the next 4 years particularly) be things that can be done at the federal level (executive branch as well as legislative branch) to help untangle and tame the gordian legal/regulatory knot at the local level.

I'm working on affordable/workforce/mixed-income housing opportunities in Florida as well as out West and would welcome further dialogue and possible collab with anyone that can add value and has a heart for helping to solve the affordable housing crisis.

cheers, ed

Thank you so much for your interest. I must admit I’m not well-versed in policies related to affordable housing. However, I do know that many successful developers started with affordable housing projects. Could you share your insights and experiences in Florida with me?

Hi Jiwon, I am involved with Resilient Community Ecosystems.

We have a long-established, proven net-zero housing/panel technology that is disaster-resistant, self-insulating, mold-proof, and can withstand up to 400 mph wind.

A two-bedroom home can be stood up in 15 working days. One of these buildings was the only one to survive the 180 mph winds of a Typhoon in Guam.

Better, Faster, Cheaper.

Part of the challenge is the standards bodies / codes that lumber industry is behind tied into insurance etc. They have no interest in sustainability or true resilience. Disaster Capitalism is the largest unregulated industry in the world. They thrive on the status quo. We are disrupting that. Your platform approach would accelerate this movement.

Happy to discuss potential to collab / partner here and deliver true value and resilience to American consumers and communities.

Hi Eric,

Your technology is exactly what is needed in Florida and the Caribbean. I’ve also done extensive research on earthquakes and hurricanes, so I truly understand the value of resilient housing solutions like yours.

What do you see as the biggest barriers to scaling and deploying your technology? I’d love to hear more about your experiences and insights. Looking forward to connecting further.

Best regards,

Jiwon

This is definitely something I’ve been thinking about. I have some experience and connections with this. The biggest bottleneck I believe is the hodgepodge of regulations around the country.

It’s an enormous opportunity because the demand is immense. There’s plenty of room for many players to succeed.

I agree with this. The biggest challenge is zoning and regulations. They have historically been used to segment development to the benefit of the few, so it's very hard to move the needle with local bureaucracies. Arbitrary Lines by Nolan Gray talks about this in depth.

Also, you might to take a look a Boxabl, another startup in the modular home space.

I completely agree. That’s one of the reasons I moved from S.Korea to the US. In my humble experience, regulations are shaped by culture and evolve over time. I’d love to connect and discuss further!
