Proposed as an existing solution to COST OF LIVING CRISIS
Housing costs are America’s biggest problem. I'm from California where my peers work 70+ hours a week to make rent on a 1 bed apartment.
For a while I’ve been obsessed with solutions. And I concluded can only be solved 1 way – adding inventory. Saturating the market so deep that no human would need to worry about making rent or falling to the streets again. It's all about supply.
I looked into other countries and came across Japan internet cafes. Coworking space that people began house hacking. Now Japan solved their housing crisis and achieved a 0% homelessness rate. So I'm bringing this concept to the US.
My startup converts vacant office space into permit-free microspaces. The lowest cost option in CA by over $600 bucks a month - and we save 50 tons of carbon emissions per unit vs new builds.
To test the idea, we built our first location and ran a case study. Got 180 bookings in a month with solid unit economics (9.6 LTV/CAC, 1 month CAC doubling time). Even more importantly, we discovered office landlords are willing to supply & pay for our future locations. Removing the capex variable. So we have 25 of these locations on our waitlist.
Curious to hear everyone's candid feedback!
