Proposed as a new solution to Not enough people are starting companies
My ideas come from my personal experience. I don’t fit most founder stereotypes and it’s been tricky to balance financial risk with a passion for entrepreneurship. If I had a credible platform / program with an option to flirt with entrepreneurship, that would have been useful!
With the current financial environment, it would be even more difficult for entrepreneurs, especially 1st time founders or those without access to an active investor network.
A "Entrepreneurship teaser" platform could be helpful. I visualise a mechanism where people can contribute their skills part time, network with potential co-founders, get access to a startup coaching (e.g. Y combinator startup school) and community.
We should define some milestones, say 6 months or X users or MVP launch. Users then have to decide to jump full time or not upon hitting that milestone.
Honestly, Platform venture studio largely offers a solution to this problem as well.

Hi @Vasu Srinivasanand @Bianca Swidler. At TomorrowX, we're already down the path towards offering a 'connected solution' - a 'start-up supply chain' of sorts...
We're trying to 'connect' all of the elements required to launch and operate a start-up, so that products/solutions are rapidly delivered; funding and other 'ingredients' - such as skilled resources - can be provided (or procured, depending upon your point of view) within the innovation factory, based on milestones achieved. For example, once your product is live, X happens. Once 5 customers are paying monthly over 3 months, Y happens. Once you have tried 25 variations to the product and users are engaging in frictionless, personalised experiences, Z happens (for example, an offer for mass marketing etc).
We're not there yet with all of the above on the start-up offering. We've just found a way to link the resources at an affordable cost...
But we'll be investing further through 2023. If you're interested, let us know. I think there's a place to register your interest at https://tomorrowx.com/startups

OOH @Vasu Srinivasan you've gotten the wheels turning...
I'm wondering: would this platform also have a crowdfunding component to it? E.g. opportunity for these part-time entrepreneurs to earn smaller investments from investors on the platform as a reward/ incentive to keep going after hitting a milestone? (seeing this typed out feels very index fund-y).
Great stuff, excited to see what you come up with!
