May the Fourth be with you everyone!
Wins:
-Started driving more traffic towards Ethically. We're still using mostly non-paid channels, but are experimenting with a few different paid channels as well to test click through rates.
-Grew our core guild to over 200 builders and investors.
-Brought on our first Founder Associate, @Iesha!
Challenges:
-Tracking referrals seamlessly for extension downloads (as opposed to form sign ups, etc.). We have a solution now, but boy, is it ever hacky.
-Cold emails are not driving great traction/clicks so far.
Asks:
-Join our State of the Platform Union session on Thursday night at 5 PM Pacific. JB will be going through some pretty big updates since our last session. We'll be hosting it on Twitter Spaces, link will be posted on Thursday. If you want to RSVP, you can do so here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/state-of-the-platform-union-tickets-153555912869.
-Download Ethically and provide feedback. You can download here: https://bit.ly/32as1eL
Recognition:
-Big shoutout to Kirk Kirschenbauer and Dawn Nguyen for helping us out editing blog posts for Ethically!
-Thanks to everyone who provided feedback for Ethically so far and earned equity along the way!

Hi everyone! Hope everyone got through the midpoint of the week alright. It was a busy week at Platform so I'll dive right in.
Update: JB and I continued sending out more guild invitations last week and have gotten a lot of positive response so far. We'll have some new members of the Platform family on here moving forward! We had some great meetings with the team from Mogl and VC ETF, and are pushing forward on a lot of different fronts.
Wins:
-We had a huge win last week in pushing forward a major update with Ethically. This made us comfortable enough to start hitting the gas a bit more on growth. We're still looking for user feedback!
-Made some good progress on creative production for pinterest.
-Made some headway on building out a referral mechanism for Ethically
-Had several great meetings with new guild members!
-We saw a lot more engagement on the Guild slack community which was great! Keep it up!
Challenges:
-Need to host more guild events.
-Figuring out the right referral software for Ethically.
Asks:
-What do you want to get out of the Guild? What would make you check Platform on a daily/weekly basis?
-Download Ethically and provide feedback. You can download here: https://bit.ly/32as1eL
Recognition:
-Welcome to all of our new guild members! Make sure you join the slack https://join.slack.com/t/platformventurestudio/shared_invite/zt-ojn6rvtj-gy2rwDcpQTTuEfoG6uaSLw

Hey everybody! Checking in for week 2 of these updates! Hope everyone is taking this week by the horns.

Update:
JB and I finished a few more things on the Guild onboarding flow last week and are looking forward to inviting a lot more guild members to the party this week. Ethically is my only other priority as of now while Lissette is working through some of the design and core function of the Union 2.0 project.

Wins:
-Set up premium Mixpanel for Ethically which unlocked a ton of analytic and integration capability. This also helped outline a few gaps in our current event triggering for the extension that we are going to iron out asap.
-Built the Ethically.life homepage and blog.
-Began running/testing ads on Pinterest and Twitter for Ethically. Pinterest is a new channel for me personally so there were some good learning opportunities along the way. Happy to dive into details with anyone interested!
-Got access to Twitter Spaces so we can host guild events on multiple platforms/include our Android friends :)
-Began playing with Copy.ai to test "content at scale". If anyone is curious about hearing more let me know.

Challenges:
-Need to host more guild events without relying on "experts" in particular industries since this causes way bigger scheduling headaches.
-Figuring out how to engage people more with the guild that doesn’t feel solicitous.

Asks (same as last week):
-What do you want to get out of the Guild? What would make you check Platform on a daily/weekly basis?
-Download Ethically and provide feedback. You can download here: https://bit.ly/32as1eL

Recognition:
-Huge props to Merrick and Patrick for keeping momentum moving with Ethically engineering.
-Shout out to JB for deploying PlatformOS changes quickly while having a crazy week full of meetings.
-Kudos to Nikita for keeping momentum moving on several Stage 1 projects, and actively recruiting to build out our Guild!

See you online!
Brett

Hi everyone!

In the interest of building in public I’m going to start posting weekly growth updates for Platform. The goal is to build in the open and give you enterprising folks insights into how I’m thinking about growing Platform and how you can help! These updates will sometimes touch on work I’m doing for studio portfolio companies, but will be in the lens of a core studio team member. I’ll keep them brief and structure them as:
Update on recent accomplishments
Wins over the last week
Areas that are presenting challenges
Any asks for assistance
Recognition for those who have helped

Update
Last week, JB and I spent time working through the Guild onboarding experience. It currently lacks a clear direction post signup, so we want to give it a more concrete path to participate in the guild after you join. JB has already implemented a few of the changes we’ve discussed. We also implemented Google Analytics more deeply into the PlatformOS system so we can see how people are engaging with different parts of the site a bit more.

Wins
-We now have a little over 54,000 people in our Platform network database.
-We had a great clubhouse session last week with Tim and JB discussing startup studios and the future of venture.
-We kicked off Union 2.0 Stage 2 planning
-Got unbanned from Google ads :)

Challenges
-Figuring out how to engage people more with the guild that doesn’t feel solicitous.
-Setting up tooling that is easily transferable to the portfolio companies post spin out.
-Content creation at scale

Asks
-What do you want to get out of the Guild? What would make you check Platform on a daily/weekly basis?
-Download Ethically and provide feedback. You can download here: https://bit.ly/32as1eL

Recognition
-Huge thanks to Ron Drabkin for talking through marketing and content experimentation
-Thank you to Tim and JB for doing a killer Clubhouse session last week.
-Thanks to everyone who showed up for Clubhouse last week!

See you next time!
Brett
