Grant Writing is in Stage 1: Evaluation

info_outline In Stage 1, we are validating whether existing solutions already exist, and proposing potential solutions.

 The Unmet Need

$40BN+ is granted a year from foundations alone, another $20BN from Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs). Additionally, corporations are increasingly creating philanthropic funds.

DAFs can grant to non-profits or make investments into for-profits in the form of PRIs.

Success rates on each grant application are 5-30%.

However, despite these funds being available, most non-profits don’t have the time to write lots of grants, and/or don't prioritize grant writing.

I think something needed that is not present is an AI tool that predicts the likelihood a grant application would be successful. This way grant seekers can decide if they want to invest the time to work on an application. Sometimes grant seekers want to get certain information from grant funders ahead of time to help inform if submitting an application would be best. Grant funders may not reply or be slow to reply. So, perhaps if the grant funders provide this information to a centralized data base including a profile of successful applicant, the AI model can use it to compare the current grant seeker and give a score for success likelihood. DAF's typically lack the time to write well-structured RFA's, which results in a different application process for every grant a nonprofit applies for. Hey everyone! We've been having some interesting conversations internally and think this could be a really cool opportunity. We'd love to take this to the next level by talking to some folks more intimately familiar with the industry/problem set. Check out the help request on the main company page, and let us know if you want to jump in!
An interesting possibility is to consider whether, once the grant writing side becomes more standardized, centralized, and systemized through a platform like this, the parties realize that the old way of doing grant writing and allocating funds is unnecessary and it can be done in an easier, more structured, and fairer way through a platform that takes in described needs and matches/allocates funds to them.
